It is extraordinary to note (says the Stratford Post) the carelessness displayed by some members of the public in the matter of alighting from moving trains. Several examples of narrow escapes were witnessed at tjte Stratford station yesterday morning when the mail train arrived from New Plymouth. Nearly every member of the North Taranaki Schools football team alighted from the train whilst it was in motion, and in not one case was any care displayed in the process, the boys simply jumping off with their hacks to the engine. . That none of them sustained injury was due move to good fuck than anything else.' Further up the platform an elderly gentleman displayed such haste jn alighting that had it not been for the prompt action of one of the railway officials he would by now be a sadder’and a wiser man.
