TRAINS DELAYED

By a strange coincidence. boch the northern and southern expresses were delayed hist, night on the Main Trunk line. A slip occurred at Alataroa. near Ohakune. and the express from Wellington was held up at Ohakune until 3 a.m., arriving at Tamnarunui at 5.20 a.m.. thus being over five hours late. Another: mishap occurred at Ougarue. near the of last year’s disaster. A goods train left Taumarumii at i u.m. yesterday for Te Kuiti, and a truck became derailed and the permanent way w damaged. The cause of the derailment is not known. The wrecked waggon was backed off the line, and after a delay of nearly seyen hours the line was cleared. The express Irom Auckland was delayed a bout an hour, and did not arrive at Tanmaiunui until 2.45 a.m. Two goods trains in front of the. express were similarly delayed.
