TYPHOON
SOUTH JAPAN SWEPT. MANY HOUSES DESTROYED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT TOKIO, Aug. 6. A typhoon has swept South Japan, including Ivyushu and Formosa. Railway traffic everywhere is interrupted. The- telephone and telegraph, systems at Kyushu were paralysed for many hours. A flood is reported at Taihoku. The damage to shipping is also considerable, but it is confined to small vessels. Floods in the city of Taihoku destroyed two thousand houses. Manv persons are reported missing.
