CRICKET.
SPECIAL MEETING OF SOUTH TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A special meeting.of the South Taranaki Cricket Association was held last night to consider the following resolution passed by the North Taranaki Cricket Association: “That the South Taranaki Cricket Association be approached with a view to *a conference regarding the furthering of the interests of cricket throughout the province: that the basis of the suggestions be the amalgamation of the two associations into a Taranaki Cricket Association, with headquarters at New Plymouth and the present associations be retained' as separate management committees tor their respective jurisdictions.’’ There were present: Messrs MeCarthy (chairman), Penny and Betts (Okaiawa), Nielsen and Mahonev (Patea), and Tiddv and Dalgleish (Hawera). Ihe following resolutions were passed: (1) That the North' Taranaki Cricket Association be informed that amalgamation on the basis mentioned in their resolution does not meet with the approval of this association: (2) that the North Taranaki Cricket Association is requested to consider the advisability of entering'a representative side from the two associations for the Hawke Cup competition, provided the precedent consent of the New Zealand Cricket Council be obtained, and that matches be played alternately at New Plymouth and Unworn.
