MATAPU.

(From Our Own Correspondent). Tire annual social in connection with the Sunday School was held in the hall on Monday evening last, a large number of parents and children being present, all thoroughly enjoying the nicely arranged programme of games, musical, vocal and elocutionary items. The Rev. Mr Orange (Eltham) pre*sided, and expressed the pleasure of being present that evening to give him an opportunity, to. compliment the teachers and pupils on the splendid work in connection with the Sunday School recorded during the past year, and also, on behalf of those present, he wished to heartily thank Miss O. Bococlc (organist) for the great help rendered for the past six years, and in doing so presented Miss Bococlc with a memento in appreciation of her untiring efforts in church and. Sunday School work. Sungs were contributed by Mrs L. Preece, Mabel Guy and Nora Beech; pianoforte solos by Grace Michelson, Florice Seed, Miss Bocock, Edith, Phyllis and Vera Beech, Phyllis Henry and Alex Seed; Highland dancing (in costume) by G. Michelson and M. Guy; recitations. Laurie Daniels, Norma and Jean Thomas. A dainty supper was supplied by the ladies. Mil’s Petty donated a. fiox of lollies for the children. The last euchre and dance attracted the usual large gathering. Winners for the evening were Mrs C. Willis and Mr L. Wright. For the subsequent dance Mr K. Sharp supplied the music, and the supper arrangements were satisfactory.
