RUSSIAN BANDITS RAIDS
A BATTLE WITH POLISH CAVALRY. •T CABIiI— PBKS* ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT (Received Aug. 7, 9.15 a.ui.) LONDON, Aug. 6. The Times’ Warsaw correspondent says that a. battle was fought between Russian bandits and Polish cavalry at Stobec on the Russo.-Polish border. A hundred bandits, some wearing Soviet helmets and armed with rifles, machine guns and bombs, attacked the Government offices, police station and the public treasury, all of which were looted. Telegraphs and telephones were destroyed, and prisons raided and the prisoners released. The bandits posted sentries around the town. The battle resulted in seven cavalry being killed. The bandits apparently suffered no loss, though their escape to Russia is believed to be cfit off. The Polish Cabinet feel helplpss in the. matter, as everybody knows that: the Soviet encourage the raids, but it is impossible to find proof. The raids are increasing, and frequently happen daily.—Times.
