KINDERGARTEN.
CAPITATION SHOULD BE INCREASED. (by telegraph—PßESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 6. that the Government should increase the capitation allowance from £3 2s 6d to £4 IDs in order to provide enhanced financial facilities for carrying 011 work, was a request made to, the Minister of Education this morning by <i deputation from the Wellington Kindergarten Association. * The Minister, in. reply, said he quite agreed as to the advantages of the work the Association w r as doing, and hoped the time would come when the State would take charge of ike child from three years of age upwards. He proposed, in the next fortnight, to bring the association’s request before Cabinet and. back it up. But could not promise that t-lie association would get all: it asked. However, he was hopeful it w’ould he possible to give the association some assistance.
