ELECTRIC POWER.
ASSOCIATION OF BOARDS. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 6. The second 1 annual conference of the Electric Power Boards Association opened to-day, Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., presiding. Fifty delegates were present. Mr. Nash said that- twenty-seven boards had joined the association, and urged that it should embrace all electrical authorities. Excellent progress was being made at Mangahao, and it was anticipated that power would be available in September, but the aim of the association was to work hand in hand with the Minister and the department, as being the best wav to obtain results. It was decided that electric lighting authorities other than power boards be admitted as members of the association. A remit was adopted that the Government be asked to consolidate all the Acts relating to power boards. An Auckland remit urging a definition of the : position relative to the lighting of private houses and power installations with respect to the attitude of fire underwriters and others bearing on the same point was adopted.
In the discussion speakers said the underwriters wanted hoards to take practically all the responsibility for inspection.
