Passengers by the mail train south this mormng, included Messrs. HawkGn ’i *-'• Be ' n nett, L. A. Bone, and Hart (member of the All Blacks). By to-day’s mail train Mr and Mrs B. C. Bennett left for Wellington, the foi mei to join the All Black official party for the Home tour. A large number of friends were on the station to wish them bon voyage and good luck, and as the train moved out hearty cheers were given them. iv C ir ief Detective T - S. C. Kemp, of Wellington, has received notice of his piomotion to the rank of sub-inspector m charge of the detective branch of the service at Wellington. Thi s i s the first appointment of its kind that has ever been made in New Zealand. „ Mj.. M ■ P- Miller, stationmaster at otratlord, lias received notice cancelling hi s removal to Ohakune, and advising him of promotion to the po s i tion of stationmaster at Newmarket" Un account of the courteous- and obliging manner in which he carried out his duties. Air. Miller earned a great deal of we 11-deserved popularity amongst those with whom he had come in contact and his promotion will be learned With general satisfaction (savs the Post). The actual date of his departure has not yet been notified.
