The Persian Government’s reply to the diplomats’ collective note regarding the murder of Imbrie is non-com-mittal, and excuses the police for not hiring, on the ground that it would have further infuriated the mob. Accusations have been made imputing the (•time to British intrigue, but the Premier issued a notice threatening to punish anyone spreading such a rumour calculated to create trouble between Persia and friendly nations.
