RIVERLEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) PERSONAL. I regret to report that Air. B. Hey met with a painful accident the other day, as a result of which be is at present confined to the house. It appears that Mr. Hey was sawing a log and standing on another one, when he slipped and fell heavily across the log ho had been standing on, sustaining severe bruises and injuries in bis ribs. 1 hope to hear of his speedy recovery. THE WEATHER. In common with the rest of the district we nave had a somewhat severe spin lately. Monday was an extremely wintry day, and for about an hour at noon there was a fall of snow, which, however, melted a s it touched the ground. On the high countrv above the Opunake Road the fall, as usual, was considerably heavier, and was still visible next morning. Snow also fell there earlier in the morning. Tuesday and Wednesday were fine/ with very severe frosts, whilst Thursday wa,s very cold, with a bitter south-easterly wind and occasional showers, clearing' in the evening, and followed by more frost and a rapidly rising barometer Warm sunny weather would be appreciated for a change. GENERAL.

Cows are beginning to come in, and from now on the milk supply at the factory will steadily increase. Considerable improvements are being made at the factory yard, where the" whole is being remetailed, and concrete foundations have been put into the walls of the stand shelters. I understand that the Methodists are holding a concert here on AYednesdav, August 6, when, no doubt, there will be a good attendance. A dance in aid of the sports queen in tlie Kaponga queen carnival was held in the hall on AA’ednesday, and was well attended. The floor was in excellent order, and the hall was tastefully decorated. Dancing was kept going with a swing to the excellent music discoursed by Airs. Evans' orchestra, consisting of Airs. Evans (piano), Miss Evans (violin), and Air. Spooner (cornet). Extras were played by Airs. Woods an<f Alisses Brown'and Svmes, and the duties of Af.C. were ably carried out by Air. A. E .Sadler. Before the conclusion of the dance Air. D. Malone, on behalf of the committee, thanked those present for their attendance and support.
