(brom Our Own Correspondent). tennis club. Interest is being maintained in all matters* pertaining to tennis locally. Ihe annual meeting of the Tennis Glub, which was held, recently was very well attended, Air R. Hooker presiding, yi ance-sheet disclosed a credit of 4 ; s - The following were elected office-bearers for the ensuing year:— Patron, Mr 0. Hawken, M.P.; president, Mjr Jas. O’Sullivan: vice-presi-dents, Messrs Willis, Guy, Free, i> r 1 ’ Harrison, AicL’Dowie, JLetty, Scott and Conroy; chairman, Mr R. Hooker; hon. secretary, Miss Hawkes; committee, Alesdames Seed, Calder, H. Sharp and Adams, Misses Harkness and Al. Brown, Messrs L. Fleece-, Adams, Seed, H. Shairp, R. kuy> Pratt and C. Hooker. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the chairman, secretary and the committee in appreciation of their work of the past year, a successful meeting terminating with the usual ■ compliment to the chair. HALL SOCIALS.

The- fortnightly socials are being well paqronised, the large attendance each evening being ample evidence of thepopularity of these functions. Recent winners of the progressive euchre were Mrs C. Bloor and J. Rankin, Miss Wilson and H. Startup. FANCY DRESS BALL.

Excellent arrangements. are being made by a competent commitee to cater for the large gathering which is expected to fill the hall to-night (Friday), when the event of the yeair is to be held. Numerous jirizes for fancy dresses (adults and children) will be presented. Orchestral music and a first-class floor will be provided, and the function, which is in aid of the hall, promises to be successful in every way.
