MOUMAHAKI.
DEMON STRATION AREA. At a meeting of the Waitotara branch of the Farmers’ Union, held on Saturday, a report was received from the Wanganui provincial secretary regarding the deliberations of the executive on the decision of the Government to dispose of the Moumahaki State Farm. The branch was asked whether it was in favour of retaining a portion of the farm, say, 150 acres, to be run on similar lines to the Stratford and Manaia demonstration farms. It was stated in the report that .if a portion of the area was to be retained it would be necessary to guarantee an overdraft at the bank of approximately £l-500. Air Gavin Alexander said that he did not think there would be much difficulty about finding guarantors. On Air Newman’s motion it was unanimously decided to approve of an endeavour being made to retain a portion of the farm. A committee, consisting of Alessrs Grove, Simpson, Schmidt, Alexander, Newman and Ellen, was set ux> to confer with Waverley on the matter.
