(by telegraph—press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 23. Pat cattle were again in over supply to-da.y, and there was another easing in values. Fat sheep sold slightly better, as did store sheep. A heavy consignment of North ' Island ewes was passed in at 38s. Store sheep were in slack demand in the early stages, but there was a decided priming later on particularly for ewes, hoggets and'"forward wethers. Small six and eight-toothed half-bred ewes brought 38s 9d; sound and failingmouthed crossbred ewes, 40s 4d; fairly good two, four and six-toothed ewes, 40s 6d; failing-mouthed crossbred ewes, 31s 6d; aged crossbred ewes, 20s Od, 27se; aged half-bred ewes' 255, 27s 9d; four and six-toothed lialfbred wethers, 335, 35s 2d; half bred ewe hoggets, 325, 33s Id; half bred ■wether hoggets, 245, 255, good tliree-quarterbred ewe hoggets, 31s lOd, 32s 2d; three-quarter-bred wether hoggets, 23s (id, 25s lid; good crossbred ewe hoggets, 32s 9d; cull crossbred ewe hoggets, 24s 9d. Fat Sheep—There was a small yarding of 81 .races. The market opened well,- but values were irregular on the whole. The market was better than last, week by up to 2s per head' for ewes, with less for wethers.

AUCKLAND, July 23. There was the average yarding of beef, and keen competition for choice sorts. Although quotations wore the same generally, the market showed a better tone. Extra choice ox, 28s per 1001 b; choice and prime, 24s to 275; plain and unfinished, 18s to 235; rough, 12s to 17s; prime young cow and heifer. 21s to 255; other cows, 15s to 20s; extra heavy prime steers, £l4 to £ls 15s; heavy, £ll to £l3 2s fid; medium, £9 to £lO 2s fid: light, £7 to £8 12s fid; unfinished, £4 10s to £6 7s fid; heavy prime cows and heifers, £6 17s fid to £7 10s; medium, £5 to £6 ss; light, £3 2s fid to £4 17s 0d; unfinished, £1 to £3 7s fid.
