(by telegraph—press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 23. Pat cattle were again in over supply to-da.y, and there was another easing in values. Fat sheep sold slightly better, as did store sheep. A heavy consignment of North ' Island ewes was passed in at 38s. Store sheep were in slack demand in the early stages, but there was a decided priming later on particularly for ewes, hoggets and'"forward wethers. Small six and eight-toothed half-bred ewes brought 38s 9d; sound and failingmouthed crossbred ewes, 40s 4d; fairly good two, four and six-toothed ewes, 40s 6d; failing-mouthed crossbred ewes, 31s 6d; aged crossbred ewes, 20s Od, 27se; aged half-bred ewes' 255, 27s 9d; four and six-toothed lialfbred wethers, 335, 35s 2d; half bred ewe hoggets, 325, 33s Id; half bred ■wether hoggets, 245, 255, good tliree-quarterbred ewe hoggets, 31s lOd, 32s 2d; three-quarter-bred wether hoggets, 23s (id, 25s lid; good crossbred ewe hoggets, 32s 9d; cull crossbred ewe hoggets, 24s 9d. Fat Sheep—There was a small yarding of 81 .races. The market opened well,- but values were irregular on the whole. The market was better than last, week by up to 2s per head' for ewes, with less for wethers.

It was a weakening market throughout, and values were down by about 2s per hundred. Sales were hard to make over the final stages.

Store cattle totalled 100 head, consisting mainly of cows* which were bought .by potters at prices well up to late rates. There -were no young cattle. Forward good cows brought £3; medium, £1 15s, £2 7s 6d; aged and inferior, £l, £i 10s; good bulls, £3, £4 15s; medium, £2, £2 10s. Dairy Cattle—There was a small entry of 58 head. The sale opened with little competition, but towards the end improved. Gooff second and third cal vers, springing, £B, £10; good, £ll 10s; medium sorts, £5 £7; springing heifers, £4, £7 15s. * Fat Pigs—There was-a small supply. Baeoners met with good demand. There was a large supply of porkers. Prices were a little easier. Choppers. £4, £7 ss; light baeoners, £4, £4 35a; heavy, £5 ss, £6; extra heavy, £(5 os, with average price per lb 82d.tn 9d; light porkers, £2 10s, £2 15s; heavy, £3, £3 15s; average price per lb 9d to Old. Store Pigs—There was a large entry. Values for medium and large stores came down. Weaners sold well at late rates. Weaners, lfis, 20s; small stores, 225; 28s; medium, 30s, 365; laige, 475. WESTFIELD. AUCKLAND, July 23. There was the average yarding of beef, and keen competition for choice sorts. Although quotations wore the same generally, the market showed a better tone. Extra choice ox, 28s per 1001 b; choice and prime, 24s to 275; plain and unfinished, 18s to 235; rough, 12s to 17s; prime young cow and heifer. 21s to 255; other cows, 15s to 20s; extra heavy prime steers, £l4 to £ls 15s; heavy, £ll to £l3 2s fid; medium, £9 to £lO 2s fid: light, £7 to £8 12s fid; unfinished, £4 10s to £6 7s fid; heavy prime cows and heifers, £6 17s fid to £7 10s; medium, £5 to £6 ss; light, £3 2s fid to £4 17s 0d; unfinished, £1 to £3 7s fid. Calves were in less numbers than the average, prices improving. Runners, 70s to 90s; heavy vealers, 65s to 755; medium, 48s to 04s; light, 30s to 425,- smaller, 18s to 28s; small and fresh dropped, 3s to lfis; rough, 15s to 265. : Pigs—Small numbers; prices on a par with last week. Choppers, 90s to 108 s; heavy and medium baeoners, 80s to 975; light baeoners and heavy porkers, 60s to 78s; medium and light porkers, 52s to 58s. Stores sold at late rates. Large, 25s to 375; slips, 25s to 325; weaners, lfis to 235. Sheep—An average yarding. Prices generally were easier.
