The Chinese university students’ Association football team gained their first victory in the Dominion this afternon, when they defeated the Hawke’s Bay representatives "by a margin of two goals to nil. The match was quite a good exhibition, with the clever work of the visitors the outstanding feature. Their combination was the keynote of their play, individuality .being unknown to theni. In footwork they excelled, showing a masterful control of the ball. They also seemed to have a general inclination to anticipate the play of the home, side, thus enabling them on many occasions to break down the attacking movement. The home side gave a very creditable showing, but did not possess the necessary finish to their play. THE RUGBY GAME. WAIR ARAPA ’S RUNAWAY WIN. BUSH BEATEN. BY 43 TO 3. MASTERTON, July 23.
