The Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) aaull preside at the Supreme Court sittings m New Plymouth next month. Mr F Basham, engineer of the latnngata County, and formerly of HaAvera and Eltharn, has been* appointed engineer to the Hauraki Plains County. I here were 25 applications. . The resignation of Air. V. B. Stratton from bis position as auditor to the W inter tehow Company was received at a meeting held on Alonday night On the motion of the chairman, it was accepted with regret, and a motion-passed expressing appreciation of the good work done by Air Stratton during the years he had been auditor. Air Straton, m his letter, said he was compelled, by the state of his health, to give j up all .work except , his position's as secretary of the Racing C lub and of the Trotting Club. A specially cardial vote of thanks was passed at a meeting of the Winter Shbw Executive on Monday to the secretary and organiser '(Air L. O Hooker) for his good work at this year s show, which Avas very Largely instrumental in securing the success achieved. Speaking as treasurer Mr Bennett said it was remarkable that’, despite the fact that the season had been not too good, anu That there had been extra winter shows in the North Island, the nett door takings hndbem almost up to last year’s exhibvtion Qiow, the largest e\ r er reached, and over £2OO better than the yeair 1922 It may be of interest to note that'the society pays over £l2O in amusements tax Air Corrigan .said that this show had been lietter run and with less trouble than any previous slioav, and Air Hooker deserved verv great kudos for his work. The vote of’thanks was carried unanimously, and will be recorded on the minutes of the society.
