FARMERS’ UNION.
QTAKEHO BRANCH. A meeting of the Otakeho brancli of the Farmers’ Union was Held m the vycakeiio Hall on Saturday, Air e,. .burke presiding. A considerauie amount of correspondence was read and received. Votes ol condolence were passed to Mr J. E. I’oung, Utauelio, aiid to Mr ami Airs J. Landers, Jvaupokonui, in their recent bereavements. Hough balance-sheets of tiie social evening and the presentation of prizes were read, showing a small credit balance over the two. A. detailed report of the recent root clop competition was received from Mr Deem, but owing to there being an address to tallow, this was field over till the next meeting. Prior to the commencement of the ■meeting,"Mr 0. Jrl. Buekericlge and Mr Pierce called in to state that they had just prevailed upon Mr Dunn to .accept the presidency of the Farmers’ Union Executive for this year, and asked member present to appoint a delegate to tne executive and to do their best lor the union. Mr J. S. Bennett was duly appointed to represent tiie OLakeho branch. This being all the business, the chairman then called upon Mr George Ford to address meeting, Mr Ford addressed the members on subjects of great importance to the farmers, a report of which will appear later. At the conclusion of Mr Ford's address. the chairman moved a very hearty vote of thanks to him, stating that -Mr Ford was always willing to help the farmers with his good advice. Mr Ford suitably replied.
A vote of thanks to the chair concluded a very interesting evening.
