CITIZENS’ BAND.
COUNCIL DECIDES TO MOVE. Cr. Townsend at last night’s meeting of the Hawera Borough Council referred to an editorial note at the foot of a letter which recently appeared in the Star concerning the necessity for resuscitating the Hawera band. He said that the note was correct as far as it went. Cr. Townsend proceeded to explain the position. As everyone knew, there were certain men ih every band who were regarded as indis"pensable, and in the case of the Hawera band there were four players without whom the band was useless. Air. Ollerenshaw had straightaway attempted to get into touch with these four men, but- he found that two were working out of town, and the other two were on work they could not leave. Consequently all hope of getting a hand together for the occasion was dismissed. _ Cr. lownsend also said that he considered it was high time that something was done in connection witli reforming the Harwera band, and lie consequently moved that the hand committee be called together at- an early date to discuss the matter. . Or. Osborne seconded, and the motion was carried.
