SAD END OF A GIRT,. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION ) ; CHRISTCHURCH, July 19. A pitiful story oi a. gin's unbalanced mind was told at an inquest held today on uie body of Grace" Ellen Schole•ieid, agecl 16 years, avJio had lived Avjth her mother at Qxford Terrace. On February 20 the girl ivas committed to tSunn'yside Mental Hospital, but on April 16 she Avas allon-ed to return to her home, said the mother (Mrs Scliclefielci). tier daughter Avas .erratic. Yesterday she screamed violently, and would not- let anyone touch her. Dr. Orchard visited lier twice a week, but he-i did not- think she Avas bad enough to be recommitted to tho mental hospital. She was very bad last evening, and she became violent, but Avent- into town, returning later in the e\ r ening and going into her bedroom. Mrs Scholefield Avent into the room about 10 p.m. She sat _on the bed knitting for a while, and noticing that the girl’s head Avas not resting on the pilloiv, she told her to move up. The girl, as Avas her habit, had her face coA’ered. “She did not, ans Aver, so I lifted back the clothe's, and she had a blue rag round her neck,” said Mrs Scholefield. ‘‘She did not move or speak. I called out. but she would not answer.” It was then discovered that she Avas dead. Mrs Scholefield said she had not noticed any suicidal tendencies about the girl. The inquest Avas adioAirned.
