“You can hardly tell these days what the age of a lady really is,” stated Inspector Fear, during the hearing of a by-law case at the Magistrate’s court recently (states the Wanganui Chronicle). “What is the age of the lady in question?” queried MiBarton, S.M. “About 40 years, and she’s a Miss,” replied the inspector. “In that case 1 will order the age to be suppressed,” jocularly remarked the Magistrate as he inflicted a penalty.
