BUTTER AND CHEESE. LATEST MARKET REPORT. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, July 10. Butter is slightly easier for best sorts, but Siberian, which is arriving freely, is selling readily at 156 sto 170 s. New Zealand choicest salted is quoted at 188 s. Unsalted is very scarce at 200 s 6d. Australian is quoted at 180 s to 182 s, with unsalted at 188 s to 190 s. Danish is selling at 2025. Cheese is firm. New Zealand coloured is quoted at 90s, and white at 945. Last week the report was: Butter, firm. New Zealand choicest salted, 190 s to 1925; Australian, 180 s to 182 s, unsalted about 4s premium; Danish, 200 s; Siberian, 160 s, 170 s. Cheese, steady. New Zealand finest, coloured 945, white 965. The latest quoted prices are equivalent to approximately Is sjd f.o.b. New Zealand ports for salted and Is 7d for unsalted butter, or Is 5.65 d and Is 7.42 d respectively per lb of butter-fat. The cheese prices are equivalent to approximately 8d per lb f.0.b., the butterfat prices being approximately Is if the cheese is of January-Februnry make, or Is 34d if of March, April or Mav make.

LONDON TALLOW MARKET. The Bank of New Zealand produce department has received the following advice from its London office under dat- of July 9:—Tallow: There is. a good demand, and prices have advanced dd per cwt. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the. following cablegram from their London house under date 9th inst.: —Tallow: We quote spot values for the following descriptions—Fine muton 45s per cwt, good beef 43s 3d. mixed 38s 9d. The market lias an upward tendency. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house under date of the 9th instant:— London Tallow Sales. —835 casks tallow offered; 560 sold. Tallow mixed good colour prices are j unchanged. Other descriptions 6d per cwt higher. DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd-., report having received the following cablegram from their London house under date 9th instant: —

Dairy Produce. —Butter market quiet’. Since our last report (dated 7th inst.) prices are 2s to 4s per cwt lower. Price for New Zealand salted is now 184 s to 186 s, New Zealand exceptional brands .-1.86 s 188 s-

FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT. The fortnightly yards sales have been smaller as the culling of herds is about over. Good fleshy cows have sold slightly better at recent auctions. The weaner heifer market is dull on the poorer, classes, hut good quality Jersey heifers; get better attention. At Hawera yards on Thursday a good yarding came forward. Pen fat bullocks £S ss, fat cows £4 17s 6d to £5 10s, good forward cows £2 10s to £3 10s, lighter sorts. £1 Is to £2 7s. weaner heifers 14s to £2 6s, according to qualify. In the dairy pens we report a big yarding, nearly all,heifers. Buyers were present and competition good, practically everything being Sold at the, hammer.’ Best heifers for quality, size and condition, made to £ll 10s, others £7 to £9 10s, more backward £4 10s to £6. In the. sheep yard fat lambs brought 26s to 295, a line of 3-tooth ewes in lamb to black face 34s 6d, lines of empty ewes 21s and 22s 6d. At Waverley yards on Friday, the demand was good for hoggets. Several small lines yarded made to 265. There was a small entry in the store cattle 1 pen. On the dairy side we offered, on account of Mr. Isaac Lupton, a dairy herd. The sale was spirited. Throughout. A good attendance of buyers was present and we report keen competition. Best, prices for good young cows close to profit £ll to £ls, others £7 10s to £lO, averaging £9 over all. On account of Messrs. Johnston Bros, the above prices ruled for dairy cows: Heifers brought to £lO for close up good sorts, more backward heifers £4 10s to £6.

On Friday, July 4, we conducted a clearing sale at Okaiawa on account of Mr. A. U. Grofski. Gig ,£ll 10s, mower £l3, s.f. plough £4, used mare £l7 10s, milking machine £BO, cows £5 10s up to £l2 10s, according to quality. On Monday, at Okaiawa, we sold Mr. J. Short’s grade Jersey herd. Tpp cows brought £ls 10s to £2O, others £8 to £l3, good cows, but with some age, £7 to £B. Pigs sold well. Sows to farrow £4 10s to £5 ss.

At Kakaramea yards on the saine day a herd sold on account of Mrs. Harrison averaged about £7, best prices being £9 to, £ll 10s. At Whareroa, on Tuesday, on account of Mrs. Benton, we held a clearing sale. Pedigree boar £8 (is. The dairy herd, mixed cows, mostly young, showing a good Jersey strain, averaged over £9. Best cows £9 10s to £l3 10s. On Tuesday, July 8, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr. C. J. Griffiths. Opunake. There was a small attendance and bidding was not keen. On Wednesday, at Opunake. in conjunction with Messrs. Newton King, Istd., we held an auction on account of Mr. B. J. Morris. Small herd of cows averaged £9. A lino of 110 dairy heifers. Jerseys, sold, the pick and in lots, at an average over all of £7 7s. Best heifers for quality and show made £9 to £ll 15s. Other good heifers £7 to £9. Good heifers but more backward from £5 10s.
