WAVERLEY.
HUNT CLUB BALL. One of the most popular events of the season took place last night, when the Elgmo-nt-Wanganui Hunt Club held their annual ball. It was an unqualified success in every way. A very large crowd of residents and visitors from as far north as New Plymouth and soutb to Wanganui and Marto-n and the Main Trunk were present, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The floor, which is noted as one of the best on the coa_giL was in perfect eider, and dancing was therefore specially enjoyable. Very good music was supplied by the Premier Orchestra, and this contributed in no small degree to the success of the function. A strong ladies’ committee put in a great deal of hard work making preparations, and the decorations—streamers in a very effective colour scheme—and the supper were ample evidence of their good efforts. The dancing went with a great swing throughout, and the ball wa« voted one of. the most successful ever held in Waverlev.
To-day the dub are holding their point-to-point events. This fixture is always popular and will attract a iarge number of horses from all over the district.
