MALE CHOIR.

HAWERA COMPETITIONS. The schedule of classes for the Hawera musical and elocutionary festival, to be held at the Opera House on August 2b and 26, is published in our advertising columns. The management of the competitions is in the hands of th© Hawera Male Choir, which has set up a special committee for that purpose. This committee has selected the music, and will appoint the judges. Competitors will compete in order decided by ballot, and an official accompanist will l>e provided. The decision of the committee on any complaints that may arise will he final. There are 24 classes divided into three sections, instrumental, vocal and elocutionary, and it is confidently expected that they will attract a large number of entries, which will close with the secretary of the competitions committee on Friday, August 1. The competitions hav© been organised for the purpose of encouraging music and elocution in th© district, and it .is hoped that the Male Choir’s effort- will be well ■supported.
