INTER-COLLEGE MATCH. TE AUTE DEFEAT WANGANUI. (BY TELEGRAPB —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WANGANUI, July 10. The annual Rugby match between Te Aute College and the Wanganui Collegiate School was played here to-day in beautiful weather. The ground was in sblendid order: The attendance was 4000'. The contest provided one of the most thrilling and brilliant Rugby seen,in Wanganui for a long time. Thte Te Aute forwards outweighed the locals by a stone and a quarter on the average, and this difference enabled the natives' 1 to obtain the ball from the scrums at their will. Wanganui set uj> a fine passing’rush soon after the kick-off, Carrell scoring. Later Ritchie picked up and outpaced the opposition, Scanlan goaling. Just before half-time Wanoa scored for Te Aute,, and half-time came with the score : ■ Wanganui 8 Te Aute 3 Half-way through the second spell Ihaia intercepted in his own 25, scoring a runaway try. The kick failed. Shortly after Kereopa forced his way over, and Te Aute were leading by 9 points to 8. The last six minutes of play was of a sensational order. Scanlan kicked a penalty for Wanganui, and a few seconds later Smith got over in the corner, and Te Aute were once more in the lead.
