Henry Robert Wilkinson, a Methodist minister, was sued at the Magistrate’s Court this morning by Maude )'.,va Noble, a. widow, ior £SO damages, alleged to have been caused by assault! It was stated that the couple met as a. result oi a newspaper advertisement, and became engaged. A dispute occurred, and when the plaintiff refused to give a gramaphone hack it is alleged defendant assaulted her. After hearing evidence, judgment was given for the defendant. A DOUBLE CHART. AUCKLAND. July 10. At the Police Court W'illiam Bekker W’ a s fined £ls, in default fourteen days’ imprisonment, for having published a double chart. He laid odds of £25 to os with two men, and when he refused to pay out a complaint was laid to the police.
