SYDNEY, July 9. Colonel Brinsmead, Director-General of Civil Aviation, states that the license of the aviator responsible for the stunting over Sydney will be suspended. AN UNPOPULAR AWARD. SYDNEY, July 10. The executive of the Neiv South Wales Federated Engine-Drivers’ and Firemen’s Association is dissatisfied with the award delivered by the Federal Arbitration Court, and carried a recommendation that members would cease work if the award as delivered was put into operation. CANTEEN FUNDS. MELBOURNE, July 10. The report of the trustees of A.I.F. canteen funds tabled in the House of Representatives shows that to June 30 last £686,620 was distributed to 44,000 claimants, ami £350,210 paid in respect of seriously disabled soldiers. It is probable, that the funds will be exhausted in the next twelve or eighteen months.

During the division members of the Opposition sang the ‘‘Red Flag” and “Sour Apple Tree,” introducing the Minister’s name. The Address-in-Reply was carried on a similar division. WAVE OF CRIME.
MELBOURNE, July 11. Melbourne appears at . present to he on the crest of a. crime wave. Apart from hold-ups reported recently, many minor robberies with violence have occurred, and a number of houses and buildings have been broken into and ransacked. A mini her of citizens have taken the advice of-the Chief Commissioner of Police and armed themselves with various kinds of weapons. The Chief Secretary does not approve of this advice. He favours tightening up the law so as to break organised gangs of criminals.
STEAMER HELD UP. PERTH, July 11. A Bun bury message states that the steamer Truro City is held up owing to the crew leaving, alleging that the. vessel is overloaded. The watersiders also ceased loading coal. The unions state that the vessel must he lightened to bring the Plimsoll mark out of the water before the men will resume.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
