KAKARAMEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)— ■ FARMERS’ UNION- MEETING,. A meeting of the Kakaramea branch of the Farmers’ Union was held on Tuesday night in. the hall. There was a small but. enthusiastic attendance, and the suggestion by one member that the branch be disbanded met with quite a hot reception from the others. Mr P. Tong was voted chairman for the ensuing year, Mr J. B. Duke secretary, Mr S. Huston vice-chairman, and Messrs Wills, Tarrant, Clinton, Parsons, Sutherland, R. Watt, A. Ward executive members. Mr Tarrant pointed out that there' was a decided want of interest on the jiart of farmers in their union, and asked for suggestions as to the cause and as to how the interest could be increased. Mr Clinton thought that farmers considered they did npt get enough for their money, and it. was then proposed by several to hold more frequent, meetings and also try and obtain the services of Government experts to give lectures more frequently than lias been the case in the past on matters pertaining to dairy farming. Mr Huston proposed, and Mr Parsons seconded, that on the occasion of these lectures the executive provide light supper for the members attending so as to make the meetings more attractive. Mr Tarrant then proposed, and Mr Wills seconded, that the 31st May be the end of the financial year in future. This was carried and a successful meeting ended.
