UNIONS CONSIDERING SEVERANCE FROM IT. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) . . . WELLINGTON, July 8. It is stated that since the Anialgamated Society of Railway Servants severed their affiliation Avith the Alliance of Labour other labour organisations been considering the advisableness of taking a ballot on the question. .It AA r as recently announced that the Freezing Workers and Allied Trades Federation had resoKed' to secure an expression of opinion of members on such a breakaway from the Alliance, hut the result of the ballot has not .yet been declared. It is also stated authoritatively. that the New Zealand Amalgamated Society of Engineers and Metal. Workers has issued ballot-papers on the question of severance from, the Alliance. If the tAvo. organisations name ( ] decide on seA'erance, the Federation will comprise eight organisations, namely, the seamen’s, watersiders, miners, drLers, tra.m\A-aymen’s, storemen and packers’ workers unions, and the timber workers.
