FRENZY OF RUGBY.
FOOTBALL LX SCHOOLS. AUCKLAND. .July 1. “Something has been said lately about football in schools. ’’ said Air J. Dninunond. headmaster of the Auckland Grammar School, at the annua! reunion dinner of old hoy? of tho school on Saturday. Rorsonnlly, said Mr Drummond, he was not in favour of any extreme attitude. Tu Auckland they were in a peculiar position. They had a large number of hoys playing football hut had not got grounds to accommodate one-fourth part of the number. This school was dependent on the Auckland "Rugby I’nion for grounds, and while he was in sympathy with those who maintained that school football should not be conducted by an outside body, yet they owed so much to the Rugby Union that it was their business to support it wherever they could. Fie thought a school team should not appear more often in public than was good for the boys, but he had not seen any signs of that so far. “The football frenzy’’ was mentioned bv Air R. AV. Gamble, headmaster of Afount Albert Grammar School. TTe said some of his boys had asked to be allowed to lortn an Association football team. He had granted the request. and had found Association football an ex client counter-irritant to the. frenzy of Rugby,
