MATERNITY MORTALITY. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) TIMAItIT, July 4. At a meeting to-night the Women Citizens’ Associations passed a ievolution that in view of the alarming statements circulated by the Public Health Department in reference to maternal mortality in New Zealand, the association asks for fuller details; congratulates the Department or. the appointment of Dr. Jellett, and heartily supports his plea for more rigid inspection of maternity homes and the appointment of doctors of midwifery as inipectors; and urges the Government to institute a system by which midwifery nurses resident at a St. Helen’s Hospital could attend women in their own homes.
