The Sydney Referee of June 25 reports that the musical comedy “Sally 7 continues on her merry way at the Royal, and last week registered her 550th performance. George Gee, one of the most popular comedians ever to appear in Australia, will sail ior England directly the “Sally” season concludes. On the following day Miss Josie Melville will make her first appearance in “Good . Morning, Dearie.” The mind of the wntersiclev is evidently cast in a peculiar mould and his attitude towards work is hard to understand, that is, judging from an incident that took place on the waterfront (says the Lyttelton Times). One recent morning the steamer Opilii came up to Dunedin after being in dry dock at Port. Chalmers for painting and cleaning. Three gangs were wanted to work the vessel; when a eall was made for men only one out. of almost forty offered. They preferred to wait for an overseas vessel that was due in the afternoon, thereby losing three or four hours 7 work.
