Speaking at a big Labour demonstra. tion at Johanensburg, the new Premier (General Hertzog) s aid that both the Nationalist and Labour, Parties would retain their identity, but they were determined to do together what they could not do separately. They would stand apart the moment the time came when they felt that the work they 'had to do could be better done by standing apart. Colonel Creswell (Leader of the Labour Party) said the parties had one common aim, which was to submerge miserable racial suspicions and improve the conditions of the people in the great adventure they had embarked upon. The result would be either political death or political glory. General Smuts (ex-Premier), who was defeated at the general elections, has been eleted unopposed for Standerton. Parliament opens on July 25.
