Seven hundred delegates from ’thirty countries are attending the Englishspeaking conference on infant welfare. The. Minister, Mr, Wheatley, thought the conference’s first consideration should be the care of the mother, and said the insignificant reduction in maternity mortality during the last forty years was engaging the closest attention of lii's department. At present it was gratifying to find that infant mortality had fallen fifty per rent, in the past generation.—Reuter.
