MISMANAGEMENT.
VICTORIAN HOUSING BOARD. II CABLE—FB2SS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received July 2, 10.45 a.m SYDNEY, July 2. The report of the select committee on tije administration v of tii-e Housing Board lias been tabled in the Assembly. It recommends that the manager, architect and chief, clerk he severely; censured and dismissed from .the service. The committee said the evidence before it showed that the Housing Board did not take the necessary care in the administration of its affairs, but there Fhad been gross mismanagement, carelessness, incompetence, and improper conduct on the part of the manager, architect, and chief clerk. As. a. .result of their incompetence a large sum of money had been lost, and further losses must occur. Among'the instances of mismanagement, the report mentioned that the. board built houses on land over which it had no title. In the absence of proper contracts and specifications, contracts were entered into with prospective purchasers for amounts which were not sufficient to pay the cost of the building.
