The secretary’s voice continued to drone the names of the States, and hour after hour the balloting continued, hut the lines drawn during the first vote remained. McAdoo gained 13 and Al. Smith gained 38 votes at the end of the ninth ballot. The convention (had been in session for -eight hours, and then went into recess until the evening. The Democratic Presidential nominee will not actually be chosen upon the convention floor,' but a secret conference oh a choice few leaders will make the designation after everyone tires of the .endless balloting.—AusN.Z.
