c . _ (To the-Editor).' inr,—Your correspondent writing on Mi© aoove subject in your paper last Ihursday night made a statement which rik e to contradict., He said tnat there: can surely can be only one reason why anybody should obiect to the teaching of religion in the schools, namely, that of sectarianism; 'Sir,- 1 would like- to tell him that I know of another reason why many people object to the teaching of religionin the school; iiiid it is this: Many people who call themselves good Christians, arid preach Christianity in arid out: of church, do not practise what they preach. ' As a matter of. fact, when' it comes to business dealings with them I * have' found that the ■ true Christian snirit is entirely absent on .their side. ' So if business .and'Christianity- cannot .work- togather winy should* wo teach our chil--dren at Hie schools something that is 01-no use to them *in the struggle for existence? Far better that they be taught something which will enable them to, understand . the true working of society as it is to-day; for instance, a course in general economics. I quite agree that something radical will have to be .done.: soon to save . the futuire generations from ruination; but I do riot tq ink that the teaching of religion m the 1 schools is the remedy.
