ROWE STREET
(To the Editor.) Sir, —A word in rejoinder to the chairman of directors of the Winter Show Company. I pass over the references to the vision possessed or lacked by that gentleman or myself, and make this comment. Seeing that the chairman bases his claim to a concession from the ratepayers on the ground that the Show Company was a party to the “gift,” of Rowe Street, then what concession, it may be asked, are Mr. Rowe and the Refrigerating Company going to ask? Is the borough
under, a perpetual, obligation to these parties for what they- did years - ago? The; closing of -Rowe Street offends the two , principles: - (ly That no section of the ratepayers should be asked to bear an unequal burden in- .connection .with civic undertakings :,or , obligations, arid (2) that no ratepayer should obtain an.v unfair-advantage over the general body.— I am, etc., - L. A. TAYLOR,
