BLOW AT ALLIANCE. ACTION BY FREEZING WORKERS. AN UNCONFIRMED REPORT. f (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON, June 29. It is understood that one of the questions discussed at the annual conlerence of the freezing workers in Wellington was the Federation’s attitude to the Alliance of Labour, to ich it ha.s been affiliated for some time.

A report was circulated in Labour circles that the conference had reached a. decision in favour of withdrawing its affiliation with the Alliance, but no confirmation the report could be obtained from the officials of the Federa-

tion or from the secretary of the Alliance (Mr. J. Roberts). The secretary of the -Freezing Workers’ Federation (Mr. A. McLeod), when asked if ho had any announcement to make as to the business transacted at the conference, said that there was nothing definite to say. No public statement had been authorised by the conference. The secretary of the Alliance, when approached on the subject, said he knew absolutely of the matter. r l he Freezing Workers’ Federation, y. ith about vo!)'> members, is one of the largest bodies attached to the Alliance. Previously the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants was the largest body, but they broke away from the Alliance as an outcome of the recent strike.
