FIRE INQUIRY.
DESTRUCTION OF OIL STORE. (BY TELT'OUAPTt PBRfJS ASSOCIATION' 1 . INVERCARGILL, June 28. An inquiry was held before the Magistrate (Mr. Cruickslianks) regardiPg the fire at the British Imperial Uil Company’s store. After lermthv evidence his Worship said he thought the fire must be accounted for by the theory of the inspector, namely,’ that it was caused by a cigarette butt burning through Smith’s pocket on the top floor. There was no negligence on the part of the company.
