BRASS BANDS.

NORTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION. C GRADE CONTEST. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WANGANUI, June 27. At a meeting of the executive of the North Island Brass Bands Association to-niglit there was some discussion regarding the advisability of introdiicing a C grade contest. Eventually it was decided to include such a contest in the programme at the next contest. Judges were appointed as follows: Percy Code (Ballarat); solos, E. Smith (Auckland).

Bands were graded as follows: A Grade.-—Auckland Artillery, Wanganui Garrison, Palmerston Municipal, Queen Alexandra (Wanganui), Wellington Tramways, Wellington Artillery, Port Nicholson Band, Waihi Federal, First Battalion Wellington Regiment, Third Battalion Auckland Regiment. B Grade.—Lower Hutt Municipal, Petone Central, Dannevirke Municipal, Masterton Citizens,' Hastings, Hamilton. ! Citizens, Auckland Temperance Guards. Whangarei Municipal, Feilding. Mariam Municipal, Third, Wellington Regiment, Napier Garrison, Whakatane Citizens, Auckland Watersiders, Hawera Citizens* Masterton Municipal, Central Mission (Wellington), (>nehunga Municipal, Fourth Battalion Auckland Infantry, Gisborne City. C Grade.—Te Awamutu Municipal, Papatoetoe Municipal, Papakura Town, Otahuhu Municipal, Pukekohe Municipal, Waipukurau. Tauranga, Stratford, Patea, Ponsonby Boys, Miramar, Birkenhead.

It was decided that no shield or challenge trophies be allowed to leave the Dominion.
