INFECTIOUS DISEASE CASES

Dr. Watt, Deputy Director-General of Health, met the Hospital Board in reference to accommodation for infectious disease cases, urging the necessity for further provision, Otago’s present provision being 5.6 per 10,000 of population to a Dominion average of 8, the position being made worse by the accommodation being scattered over several institutions.

The chairman-(Mr. Knight) stressed the hoard's financial position. Consequent upon the Government’s blunder over the separation of South Otago. Dunedin contributed four-sevenths of the total district levy. The matter was referred to the finance committee.
