LATE MR EWING.
FUNERAL CEREMONY. Math full Masonic honours and in the presence of a very large concourse of members of the Masonic craft and of the general public, the late Mr. W. N. Ewing, Provincial Grand Master of the New Zealand Masonic Lodge, was buried in Te Henui cemetery yesterday afternoon. Headed by the Masonic craftsmen, it was estimated that there were over 500 representatives of lodges, bowling and other sporting clubs and public and private mourners in the funeral cortege when it left Mr. Ewing’s late residence in Brown Street, and others joined en route. The floral offerings were also very numerous. 'The Grand Lodge of New Zealand was represented by Messrs. T. C. Fookes, G. W. Rogers, and R. W. Sargent, while Lord Jellicoe (Grand Master of the Grand Lodge) telegraphed his condolences. The pallbearers were Messrs. C. Carter, R. Cock and A. Goldwater (representing the New Zealand Bowling Club) and F. E. Wilson, F. W. Grainger and L. C. Sladden (representing the Masoniclodges). The service of the Presbyterian Church was read at the graveside- by the Rev. 0. Blundell, Mr. A. L. B. Ross (W .M. of Lodge Ngamotii; reading the solemn Masonic service-, at the close of which the brethren filed past the open grave, marking the spot with a- sprig of acacia in accordance with ancient practice. A resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. 'Ewing was passed by the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce last last night.—News.
