DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION.

♦- EXECUTIVE ORGANISER IN TARANAKI. The executive oh the Dominion Dairy Farmers’ Union have employed Air C. E. Levien to organise a union for Taranaki. He is now ift Haivera arranging for meetings in the various centres. The general scheme is that branches be formed ■in the different districts, who each appoint their own separate officers and each has a representative on the provincial executive. The object of the union (Air Levien states) is to improve the financial position of the daily farmer by bringing about a decrease in the cost of production and increasing the selling value of 'dairy farm products* Its functions are threefold—commercial, social, and political. With regard to the last item, party politics are barred from all Dairy Union meetings, but farmers are encouraged to take an intelligent interest in the general politics of the country and to bring pressure to bear to inaugurate the reforms necessary to the successful carrying on of the industry.
