KAKARAMEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent. ) CONCERT AND DANCE. On Friday evening. 20tli inst.. a very successful concert and dance was held at Kaka-ramea in aid of the hall funds. Mr! L. A. Taylor and party, of Howe ra , piovidod the musical and other items, and the .Premier Orchestra the music for the dances. The size of the audience, some LM> people, was wonderful considering the inclemency of the weather. which appeared to reserve its worst fury for the hour the entertainment was due to commence. However, the audience, if not so large as it might have been, at least made up for the deficiency by the enthusiasm' and appreciation truth which the items were received.

The concert opened with an overture by the Premier Orchestra, followed by a .song, “Drake’s Dram/’’ bv Mr. Taylor-, Messrs.-Ferguson and. Watts, flute duet: Messrs. Carey Bros., duet (comic); Mrs. Twaddle, elocutionist, Mrs. Moss and Miss Stanford, duet; Mr. Chadwick, .song; Mr. Simpson, Scotch comedian; Mr. Ferguson, flute solo; Miss Ekdahl, elocutionist : Mr Vinnicombe. song. Encores were numerous, and it was well advanced in the evening 'when the concert was brought to a close. The success of the entertainment was due in no small degree to the excellent pianoforte accompaniment of the various items bv Mrs. Taylor.

Mr., p. T. Tong, at the conclusion, warmly thanked Mr. Taylor and his Party for their kindness m coming so far to present this musical treat to the people of Kakaramea. which statement, was heartily acclaimed hy the assembly. A bountiful supper was then partaken of and decks were cleared for the dance. Mr. C. Lord made a very efficient- M.C. The dance proved verv enjoyable, and tlie fact that there was more room on the floor than usual in no way detracted from the pleasure of the _ occasion. The excellent dance music provided hy the Premier Orchestra is too well known to require any special mention. " J
