(From Our Own. Correspondent.) SPORTS PICNIC. The weather allowed us to hold our •sports picnic last Wednesday. We had a fair number of visitors, but not the crowd expected, owing, no doubt, to other fixtures on the same tlav. However, everything went off well, including the dance in the evening. The results of the various events were as follows; Single ladies’ race (McGruer and Bone’s trophy) : R. Savage. Committee men's race (Clements’ Bakery trophy): L. C. Townsend 1, Dunlop and Litchwark (tie) 2. Married ladies’ race (Lightband and Wann’s trophy): Airs. G. Williams 1, Airs. .Radford 2. Youths under 17 (Goldstone and Patterson's trophy): F. Litchwark 1, A. Townsend 2. 100 yards (open) handicap (T Donnelly’s trophy): W Garrett 1 McCarty 2. ' Married men’s race (Blair and Sellar’s trophy): E. Litchwark 1, J. Kerrisk and J. Robertson (tie) 2. Committee men’s race (Clements' trophy): Robertson, Alurphv, and Townsend dead heat. Sweepstake 100 yards: F. Litchwark l. N. Gardner 2, Litchwark 3. The shot in bottle guess was won by Air. C. Garrett, who guessed 282 (the correct number was 283). The sheep weight-guessing was won by J. Robertson, who guessed 5241 b (correct weight 521 b). clock-stopping guess was won bv Air Knight, who stated 7.49, the clock stooping at 8.30. Stepping the chain was won bv Air. G. Dyson. Children’s races were sandwiched in and all had a good time.
