PALM ERSTON AS WATER SUPPLY. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS' ASSOCIATION.! PALMERSTON N„ June '23. At a special meeting of the Borough Council to-night the engineer submitted a scheme, for the extension of the water supply at an estimated cost of £153,830. The proposals include the construction of a new 80 feet dam and larger mains, additional filters and the purchase of land. The Mayor (Mr F. J. Nathan), in outlining the scheme, said that, although it would cost a lot of money, the works would give an adequate supply for fifty years, and would take about ten years to complete. Further consideration was deferred until next Monday.
