He said that the opening ot this new building, planned on modern lines, marked a new stage n*- development of the Public Trust Uffice work m the district. Until June f, L,m) the management of estates Wilder administration by the Public liustee m this district was carried on from the Hawera Office, but on the date named a branch office was established at Stratford under the control ot Mr J. C. Robins, as district manin view of the rapid increase of business, the site on which the new building stands was acquired by the l ulnic liustee at the beginning of last .year at a cost of and the build-in-fi < '. ost £9073. The new building will afford much improved facilities fur carrying on the work of the office, and a certain measure of inconvenience which lias been experienced bv clients other persons doing business with t m, °t^ fe during the past vear or more will disalinear.
The number of estates under administration by the Public Trustee in the Stratford district when the branch was established in 19:20 was 34, the total value being £33,900. Bv Marh 31st last the number had increased to 117, and the total value to £215,825: During the year ended March 31. 1924, no 66.estates of a. total value of £117,873 were entrusted to the office for administration.
The volume of business carried on at the local office may he to some extent gauged by the cash transactions recorded during the .past- four years. These were as follows -.—Receipts—number 2204. value £159,664. Payments—number 2498, value £132,613. '
