THIRD PARTIES. WEAKENING THE REPUBLICANS. A POSSIBLE DARK HORSE. *Y CABLE PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHI NEW YORK, June 16. A telegram from St. Paul, Minnesota, says that the Farmer-Labour Party convention opens to-morrow. It is apparently determined to designate or endorse a candidate for the United States Presidency who has already definitely repudiated the party itself namely, Senator Robert M. La Follette, vyho had declared that the orgamsation was deeply tainted with Bolshevism.
Senator La Follette has his own plans namely, probably the launching ot a third party during the so-called regressive National Convention, scheduler to take place at Cleveland on July 4. it is understood that, in the event of Senator La Follette not being designated the Farmer-Labourites uill name Parley Christiansen, who was th mu Pai i’ ty s can <Ldate in 1920 The Amencan Federation of Labour has long repudiated the FarmerLabountes, whose membership includes etery -vanety of radical, espec-iallv members of the 1.W.W., but the importance lies m the fact that these various so-called third parties inevitably mean the weakening of the Re- ?!! d - even the Democratic stiength, thus increasing the possibility that no party will secure a majoritv in the electoral college.
