THE REGION OF SODOM.
— A BIBLICAL STORY CONFIRMED. The lower Dead Sea region of Palestine lias been .scientifically explored for the first lime and with great success, Melvin ove Kyle, president of the Xeni:t Theological Seminary of Missouri and head of a research expedition, writes from Jerusalem to the New York Evening Post. The expedition, which acted in co-operation w>.h the American School of-Archaooiogy of Jerusalem, icports the discovery of the old fortress of Kir of Moab and location of the region of Sodom and Gomorrah. Graves of a cemeteiy there yielded line puttery of the days of Abraham. l)r. Kyle writes that- the mysterious rising of the Dead Sea can now be explained. and the Biblical story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is fully confirmed, but without details. The legend of intolerable weather in the Dead Sea region is not true. Dr. Kyle declares, and predict,:; growth of a winter health resort there in' the future that will surpass in climate and scenery that of Luxor, Egypt.
