The Paris correspondent- of the Daily Chronicle states that Granjeat and his wife, who had just retired from a wine business at Genevalliers, might have been happy ever afterwards, but the wife, aged 26, was. a. confirmed snufftaker. The husband constantly reproached her with that, and words led to missiles. Then Madame produced a. revolver and shot- her husband dead. Through the wonderful ways of French juries Madame was found not guilty of murder, but was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment “for blows and injuries not causing death.'’
